Two companies united through a marriage
The Weinhotel Landsknecht is the family business of Martina Lorenz (born Nickenig) and the Toni Lorenz winery in Boppard is the family business of Joachim Lorenz. The two companies came together through marriage. In the vinotheque in Landsknecht, the Lorenz wines are offered at the same price as in the winery in Boppard.
Winery Toni Lorenz: Wine cultivation with love and care
The family business Lorenz cultivates around 5 hectares of vineyards on steep slopes, mostly by hand. The use of machines has been made easier since the land in the Bopparder Hamm vineyard, but due to the sometimes extremely steep slopes, it is extremely restricted and often problematic. The Riesling, Pinot Noir, Rivaner and Pinot Gris grapes are cultivated with love and care.
Wines reflecting the terroir of the wine region
Joachim Lorenz sets the tone in the 400-year-old cross vaulted cellar (built in the 16th century). The trained winegrower uses state-of-the-art cellar technology such as stainless-steel tanks, fermentation cooling and gentle pressing processes. But classic methods – such as the expansion of wine in old wooden barrels – are still used.
The end products are racy, fresh and meaningful Rieslings of all quality levels. From strong quality wine to delicate cabinet wines, fruity late harvesting and sometimes massive selection of berries and berries, sometimes reminiscent of exotic fruits – all wines clearly bear the signature of the “cellar master” Joachim Lorenz.
The wines are dominated by slate, therefore fine and mineral wines. Almost like liquid slate in the glass. The location Bopparder Hamm Feuerlay is our best location for their vineyards. This is where their strongest Rieslings come from.
The location of Bopparder Hamm Fässerlay winery with its higher proportion of fine earth always brings its physical limits with its steepness, but the quality of the grapes in this unique microclimate is worth every effort
