Westwell Wine Estates is a family-owned vineyard and winery located in the heart of Kent, known as the Garden of England. We specialize in crafting low-intervention wines that reflect the unique character of our local terroir. Nestled beneath the historic Pilgrim's Way on the North Downs, our estate has been a cherished route for travelers heading to Canterbury for centuries. All our wines are produced on-site from grapes grown exclusively on our estate, allowing us to maintain complete control over the winemaking process. Our philosophy is straightforward: cultivate quality, respect the land, and create authentic wines from exceptional fruit.

Our Soil

Our vineyard benefits from a perfect blend of climate, aspect, and soil types. With six distinct soil geologies, we carefully select grape varieties that thrive in these conditions. Our Chardonnay flourishes in shallower, chalky soils rich in flint, capturing the evening sun beautifully. The Pinot varieties grow on mixed sand and chalk soils, while our Ortega is planted in the sandiest, most sheltered area to enhance its fruity and aromatic profile. We prioritize growing the best grapes while nurturing the soil through a combination of organic, sustainable, and conventional practices, minimizing chemical use and promoting biodiversity.

Sustainability and Biodiversity

At Westwell, we are committed to sustainability for future generations. Our goal is to produce wine at our estate for many years to come, and this commitment shapes our practices. Our labels feature intricate illustrations of our soil, rocks, and wines under microscopes, celebrating the details of our land. We actively share our sustainable practices on social media, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship in winemaking.

Amazing wine, amazing people, amazing service. I buy a box or two of Pelegrim NV every year for Christmas – it's now a standard part of the season in our household – and have enjoyed everything else in their range too. Highly recommended in all departments.

Absolutely love Westwell! Second visit today and it only gets better. Serena and Sarah hosted us so well. Very tasty English sparkling wine with a great Pinot Meunier still style and brilliant Ortega for the orange wine amateurs. Perfect for tour/tastings with friends, love ones or brilliant for team building events. The level of knowledge and hospitality is outstanding with a great arty touch! Merci 💛

We’ve been to Westwell many times for a glass of wine (or two!) and really enjoyed the wines and the atmosphere, so we planned to have my birthday celebration there too. Everything about the day exceeded our expectations- from the friendly and informative tasting session to the generous and tasty lunch. All the Westwell team were helpful and friendly and really made it a special occasion. I would thoroughly recommend a trip to Westwell for a tour, tasting or just a glass of wine and a toastie!

Brilliant day and night out here. Made to feel really special and nothing was too much trouble. Had a great wine flight with Emma and then delicious lamb burgers from a local shepherdess. Out of this world. 100% going back and would urge you to give it a try too!

A wonderful winery in a gorgeous location and tasty wines! Low intervention wines, both still and sparkling. Beautiful Ortega and Chardonnay. They produce wine onsite and their tours are really interesting (and inexpensive) and they take their time with tasting, so the experience doesn’t feel rushed. The wine is reasonably priced (for English wines) and the artwork on the labels is stunning. The area has a very interesting history, being the old pilgrim route. They also do food on Fridays and weekends, various events, and have a picnic area in a wildflower meadow. (West)well worth a visit!
