Bodegas Virtus beautifully combines two cherished passions: horses and wine. Don Mariano, a devoted cavalry soldier, instilled a love for horses in his family, fostering admiration for these noble creatures in his children and grandchildren.
The winery's second passion, wine, began in 1986 when Paloma Escribano realized her dream of creating a winery in Ribera del Duero. As one of the first female winemakers in the region, she focused on sustainability and natural ingredients, setting a precedent for boutique wineries.
Located near the historic Peñafiel Castle, Bodegas Virtus benefits from a unique microclimate shaped by the Duratón River and surrounding limestone hills. This environment supports a rich family tradition of winemaking that has been cherished for generations.
The bond between horses and wine is further strengthened by the family’s legacy. In 2012, Iñigo López de la Osa Escribano took over the winery, upholding the commitment to quality and passion that defines Bodegas Virtus. Join us to experience the harmonious blend of equestrian heritage and exceptional wines in Ribera del Duero.
