Bodegas Virtus beautifully combines two cherished passions: horses and wine. Don Mariano, a devoted cavalry soldier, instilled a love for horses in his family, fostering admiration for these noble creatures in his children and grandchildren.

The winery's second passion, wine, began in 1986 when Paloma Escribano realized her dream of creating a winery in Ribera del Duero. As one of the first female winemakers in the region, she focused on sustainability and natural ingredients, setting a precedent for boutique wineries.

Located near the historic Peñafiel Castle, Bodegas Virtus benefits from a unique microclimate shaped by the Duratón River and surrounding limestone hills. This environment supports a rich family tradition of winemaking that has been cherished for generations.

The bond between horses and wine is further strengthened by the family’s legacy. In 2012, Iñigo López de la Osa Escribano took over the winery, upholding the commitment to quality and passion that defines Bodegas Virtus. Wow! What an experience. This was the best wine tasting we've ever been to. They had activities for the kids. Wine straight from the barrel, and great conversation made for an exceptional experience.

We had a great time. We were a group of friends and Javier gave us a tour of the wineries, explaining to us with great care and detail everything that is most important. We also enjoyed the tasting at the end of the tour, it couldn't have ended in a better way! In general, everything was wonderful, an experience that I would definitely repeat.

We had an incredible experience at the Virtus Winery in Ribera del Duero. From the first moment, Javier made us feel at home with his passion and deep knowledge of wine. The tour was very complete, combining history, tradition and a detailed tour of the facilities, where we were able to see the production process up close. The tasting was exceptional: wines of the highest quality, well explained and perfectly paired. You can see the care and dedication in each bottle. In addition, the setting is beautiful, ideal for enjoying an authentic experience. Without a doubt, a visit totally recommended for any wine lover. Thank you, Javier, for making it so special!

Visita em Outubro de 2024. Interessante projeto em Ribera del Duero, diferenciado em todos os aspetos. A visita é muito intimista e realizada com muita atenção ao detalhe e qualidade. Os três vinhos desta Bodega destacam-se muito mesmo! Um especial agradecimento ao Javier por toda a disponibilidade!

I was able to fully understand the winery manufacturing process through the introduction of Managing Director Javier. Virtus plans to export wine to Korea for the first time. We are very proud to be the first Koreans to visit Virtus 😀😁🤣 Currently selling 2 types of red and 1 type of white. We plan to sell one additional white product in 2025. The wine tasting with jamon was also good. White is There was a unique feeling of red wine. The red tasted like the heavy Tempranio variety. so We ended up buying 3 bottles 😀😃😄 If you want to go on a wine tour in Spain, I definitely recommend you visit. I recommend tasting it when it is sold in Korea!!!
