Introduction to Sassotondo: Wine, Land, and Philosophy
This experience offers an ideal first approach to the production and winemaking philosophy of Sassotondo — a family-run winery rooted in the volcanic tuff landscape of the powerful and mysterious Etruscan Maremma.
We’ll begin with a visit to our underground cellar, where you'll learn about our ecological vineyard management choices, followed by a guided tasting of some of our most iconic wines.
Four wines will be featured during the tasting, each representative of our identity:
Isolina — a white (but not too white)
Lady Marmalade — a bold and bright rosé
Sassotondo Rosso — our classic, everyday Ciliegiolo
Ombra Blu — a moody, unexpected expression of Tuscany
The tasting will be guided and accompanied by bread and our organic EVO oil, made from the Caninese monocultivar.
Our winery has been certified organic since 1994, and we are proud members of both Volcanic Wines and the FIVI – Italian Independent Winegrowers association.
When visiting us, prepare for a trip into the countryside, surrounded by the nature of rural Tuscia. Everything here revolves around the vineyard and wine, so we recommend wearing comfortable outdoor clothing. Tastings are held either under our patio or in the air-conditioned tasting room, depending on the weather.
