There was very atmospheric jazz music playing. The selection of Zemplén cheese was delicious. The 2018 Édesem wine from the Árvay family went perfectly with it.

We spent a week in Budapest as a tourist and decided to do a destination day in Tokaji . We hired a private driver for the day and visited three wineries. There are other areas in Hungary that grow wine but only one is designated as a UNESCO area. Our first destination was Barta Pincer ( Barta winery). Our tour started out in one location with a meet and greet with our guide. He spoke in English and was very easy to understand. We were escorted into a mini van and taken out to the farm. We climbed the hill; had ample time to see a panoramic view of the area and our guide provided the history of the area, the vineyard, the grape varietal ,etc. We sampled 1 wine while were we on the small mountain. It was very authentic drinking the final product at a location where it all begins. When we returned, the tour continued to grape collection machine, the stainless vats and the cellar. Then came the 4 course tasting of wine. The first was 100% FURMINT , a dry white wine. Clean and crisp on the palette, it’s a perfect compliment to fish or to drink on a hot summer day. We finished with the wine the region is famous for , which is called ‘ASZU ’, a sweet dessert wine. I can’t say enough about our experience. Through, complete, very enthusiastic to share his knowledge with us. We created a beautiful memory at Barta Pince.

We corresponded in advance to order a tasting. Very professional guide Gergely. Tells a lot, knows a lot about the history of the region, all winemakers! We just got to the Mad festival at the beginning of September. I also recommend visiting. In the afternoon, everything really interesting begins. The procession on horses, carts, and on foot starts at 2:30 p.m. right from Barta. Bart liked the wines the most - Szamorodni is very light like Sauterne, also tasty Tokaj Aszu 5 putonius

We spent a night here in one of the guesthouses. A beautiful room with bathroom, air conditioning and fully equipped. The hostess was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately we couldn't do a wine tasting, but we were even able to borrow the bicycles as compensation. From the location they made a reservation for us at the restaurant nearby (since that was only possible in Hungarian). They also make delicious wines, we bought the bottles that were in the refrigerator in the room. The rooms also have a nice place to sit outside in the evening in peace and quiet. Wonderful location to stay and discover the wine region.
