The restoration of a legendary 10-hectare terraced winery
In 2003 the most imposing and steepest area of the King’s Hill vineyard was carefully replanted and after three years of work this legendary 10-hectare terraced estate was successfully revived. During this restoration process, those who were involved successfully managed to preserve the terraces that had evolved over centuries. Along with this, the Barta winery owns another 17 hectares of land in the Kovago vineyards, 3.5 of which were brought back into production in 2017. The soils of the vineyard are stony – volcanic rhyolite tufa with some zeolite and small amounts of red clay. The number of vines varies from between 10 000 and 5 800 per hectare.
Following a natural way of winemaking
No herbicides or systemic chemicals are used in the cultivation of the vineyards at Barta Winery. The most popular wines produced at the Barta Winery are the Barta Old King Dulo Essence 2008, the Barta Oreg Kiraly Dulo Tokaji Translation 2008, the Barta Old King Vineyard Szamorodni 2013, the Bart Old King Vineyard Furmint 2003, the Barta Cellar A Little Furmint 2019 and the Bata Cellar Old King Vineyard Late Harvest Furmint 2018.
