Upper Hungary’s Tokaj: Cellar Tour & Wine Tasting

Join us for a memorable tour at Grand Tokaj Winery, home to the largest cellar system in the Tokaj wine region and Central-Eastern Europe. Spanning over five kilometers and two floors, our cellar was crafted by connecting the quarries of Hatalos Hill, providing ideal conditions for aging noble Tokaj sweet wines in barrels. The volcanic soil of the hill, formed from rhyolite tuff, has a rich history dating back to the 1600s when it was used for household cleaning and painting. Our cellar, carved into this unique tuff, links four underground gravel mines, ensuring optimal aging for both barrels and bottles. On the top floor, we have six parallel halls dedicated to storing our library wines and precious Esszencias securely.

After the tour, enjoy our "Introducing Tokaj" wine tasting experience. This selection begins with a Classic Selection dry Furmint, showcasing the true essence of Tokaj with its refreshing acidity. Next, savor a semi-sweet Hárlevelű, a perfect introduction to Tokaj's sweet wines and grape varieties. The third offering is a Classic Selection late harvest Sárgamuskotály, known for its sweet and intense aroma and flavor. Following this, taste the Classic Selection Szamorodni, a well-known wine that offers a complex fruity profile. Finally, conclude with our Classic Selection 5 puttonyos aszú, the crown jewel of Tokaj, celebrated for its honey and dried fruit notes, making it a timeless favorite.
