Wine Tour at Eguren Ugarte
We enjoyed the tour, which was very informative about the Rioja region, the grapes used to make the wines at Eguren Ugarte, the microclimate of the area and how it affects the 'flavors' of the various wines. We enjoyed our guide, and the tasting at the end.

It was a great experience, recommended the visit to a special winery, very well explained, with a lot of kindness and correct wine accompaniment. Very pleasant moment in the restaurant, treatment by the staff, homemade food on the spot, filling and quantity. Perfect value for money. Highly recommended. Hotel...there was no availability.

We went to visit the restaurant with the food offered and the truth is that everything was perfect. Both the staff who explained the visit and those who worked in the restaurant were very nice. The menu is incredible, both in quantity and flavor and if you have doubts about the wine, you can taste 3 different varieties with the meal, so it is a sure success.

My wife and I went with a gift voucher from my daughters with a visit to the winery and a meal for two. Let me start by saying that it was a splendid experience. After a couple of hours enjoying a beautiful Laguardia (it was the first time I went), walking around its streets, visiting the church and the tower (impressive views on a bright day, although it was freezing cold) and buying various local products, we went to the Eguren Ugarte winery at around 1:00 p.m. when the visit began. A very pleasant girl guided us with an impressive knowledge of the wine process, the winery and its activity. Very interesting and entertaining. The tour of the caves is especially surprising, as well as the tasting of three types of wine along with the description of them and chorizo sandwich, with the possibility of repeating, so that you can soak it up a bit. The food was plentiful and varied with typical dishes: two starters of black pudding with tomato and roasted peppers, two main dishes with caperrones and Riojan potatoes, two second dishes with salad and lamb chops and the finishing touch of goxua for dessert. We are good eaters and we leave something behind. It is worth noting that they left three types of wine at our complete disposal on the table: a white to start, a 50s red and a 2017 reserve. We were not able to fully enjoy them because of the driving afterwards, but we were able to taste them at least. In conclusion, we will have to stay overnight next time. We would also like to highlight the kindness and professionalism of all the people who attended to us at the reception, visit and restaurant. Thank you very much for your exquisite attention and see you next time.

The first time I stopped here was back in 2006 before there was a hotel and the old owner who built the winery was still alive (and took the time to show me around). To this day this is still one of my fondest memories of visiting Spain. I was only passing through on my way to catch the ferry in Bilbao. Intrigued by the architecture I stopped and wanted to find out more about this place. Next thing I'm invited to have lunch with the owner who had some friends visiting in the restaurant and tag along for a tour of the cellars. The hospitality was frankly mind-blowing. The lamb cutlets from the wood fired oven were next level and that's nothing to say of their wine. I still have the bottle of their Gran Reserva in its wooden box they gave me as a farewell present. Just incredible people!
