The history of the winery dates back to 1870
The tale of Eguren Ugarte was started in 1870 when a healer, Pascasio Pangua, left his vineyards in the will to Anastasio, great-great-grandfather of the present owners. The fourth generation of the winemaking family was the driving force of the estate as they brought many changes in the production phases. Today fifth and sixth generation, carrying out the legacy of their ancestors, has introduced various innovative methods, respecting the old family traditions.
Some of the plots are of fifty-year-old grapes
Surrounded by the imposing countryside, the vineyards of the estates are expanded over different patches of land of Laguardia. Fifty-year-old grape plants are located in Labastida and Páganos, a region perfect for the production of various vines. The vines include top-quality Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, and Maturana, in combination with fruity Garnacha Blanca, Tempranillo Blanco, Malvasia, Viura, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Asun and Mercedes, the present owners, believe in manual picking of grapes and using only carefully chosen bunches they produce rich-quality red, white, and rose wines.
For guests, the estate also consists of a hotel, an ideal place to spend vacations, overlooking the scenic beauty of the region. It has well-furnished rooms equipped with numerous modern facilities.
