Vaziani Winery, established in 1982 and revitalized in 2012, boasts modern Italian equipment and non-corrosive metal reservoirs. This winery operates a unique closed production cycle, starting from grape selection to the final product, all adhering to ISO22000:2018 international standards.

The winery is renowned for its qvevri wines, which have historical ties to the Prince Makashvili family. These wines were once served to esteemed guests in the Kakheti region, showcasing the rich heritage of Georgian winemaking.

Today, Vaziani Winery, run by the descendants of the Makashvili family, produces qvevri wines that satisfy both expert palates and wine enthusiasts. Their commitment to quality has earned them numerous awards at prestigious international competitions.

The Makashvili Wine Cellar, part of Vaziani, dates back to the late 15th century. During the winery's reconstruction in 2012, over 200 ancient qvevri vessels were discovered, with 39 preserved in excellent condition. These century-old vessels are used to craft wines using traditional qvevri methods, resulting in limited production wines that have gained global acclaim.

We went on excursions and tastings. Thanks to the girl Maya, I realized that I knew nothing about wine. She is an encyclopedia about winemaking in Georgia. White drying tower of Saperavi and Pirosmani

We should have called ahead of time, but they let us do a tasting anyways. The sommelier was very knowledgable, and we had some great conversations about wine production and pairings. She took her time, letting the wines reach the right temperature, and presenting each bottle with a good explanation. My partner and I are wine snobs, and we both learned some new things. The wines were also very tasty- the amber wine blew us away, and I even liked the rosè, which is rare.

I just came there without reservation, 2 women working there were totaly nice and gave me wine testing for free !!!! The wine produced there is at scale, which make things even better imho. Dont try your luck and call/book there in advance, plenty of prebooked tours areon schedule, you might be not lucky as individual just walking by 😉

Great experience! A private wine tasting experience for my husband and I. Really worth the travel. Tamara is very informative.

It was a quick but fun tour. We tried many different types of wine and bought some to take home. Unfortunately due to corona, there weren’t many bottles open so we couldn’t try more wines like their award winning Kisi. However, it was still a fun experience and they even gave us a ride home.
