Ametller Winery, Located in the Beautiful Montsant Moutains
At the foot of Ametller National Park, Ametller Winery is situated on the edge of the beautiful mountains of Montsant. the winery is surrounded by magnificent vineyards, imposing cliffs and streams with lush vegetation. The hill on which the winery is positioned is mesmerized by high biological diversity, which can spellbind any guest who pays a visit.
In 2005, a new three-floored modern facility with advanced technologies was built at Ametller Winery.
The Story of the Winery Begins in the First Half of the 1800s
Ametller Winery’s story begins in the first half of the 1800s with Joan Ametller Fortuny and a small land purchase in the town of Sant Marti Sarroca. Many years later in 2005, a new three-floored winery with modern and advanced technologies was built on the foundation of the old winery. The cellar at Ametller Winery has a new barrel room and bottling room, for storage, aging, and bottling of its wines. On the top floor, Ametller Winery has a wine tasting room, overlooking the lush landscapes. Today, the seventh generation of the Ametller Family has begun cracfting wines under the prestigious Priorat DOQ denomination.
Old Vineyards, with 60 to 90 Years Old Vines
The owner of Ametller Winery has purchased many old vineyards in the beautiful town of Porrera because of the extremely fertile soils and unique terroir. In the vineyards, the staff of Ametller Winery grows autochthonous varieties, such as Garnatxa and Carinyena, some are vines are 60 – 90 years old, all within the Priorat DO region. Another farm on the estate, Mas del Mustardo – a 23 hectares winery in the town of La Morera de Montsant shares their passion for winemaking. The Ametller Family cultivates Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo, Xarel-lo, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat between the two properties. The winery is known for producing high-quality red and white wines, accompanied by the finest dessert and sparkling wines.
