Artcava Celler Can Batlle winery: in the middle of the countryside
Artcava Celler Can Batlle is a boutique winery in the heart of the Penedès Wine Valley that produces less than 18.000 bottles per year. Eric, Ignasi, and Ramon, the three owners of Artcava, focus more on quality over quantity. The wines and cavas of the winery are well-known for their freshness, salinity and complexity. Here, right in the middle of the appealing countryside, you can taste some of the best ancestral foods of the winery.
Breathing new wind into the winery
The story of Artcava began in 2004 when an idea of reopening a centuries-old winery popped in the minds of the trio. With a lot of hard work and dedication, Eric, Ignasi, and Ramon started making top-class wines within the old walls of the ancient cellar. They introduced modernity into the winery while being careful not to lose the rustic charm of the estate. Over the years, the trio has presented wine tourism and workshops on local specialties, along with teaching people how to make their own cavas.
Surrounded by stunning nature
Using traditional methods, combined with state-of-the-art viticulture practices, the owners grow a variety of grapes. The vineyard-zone is the place where actual magic begins. Some of the fruity grapes they cultivate are Macabeu, Xarel·lo, Red Grenache, and Muscat, paired with Chardonnay and Merlot. The berries are collected manually to produce delicious sparkling wines.
Surrounded by nature and magnificent vineyards, there exists an ecological house, where guests can visit and spend memorable nights.
The house is facilitated with modern amenities and is located next to El Font de la Canya, a historical monument of the Iron Age
