Azienda Agricola Albino Piona, Following the Tradition of Winemaking
The Piona Family winery, Azienda Agricola Albino Piona, gets its name from the founder Albino, who started the business 1893. Over the years, the winery has been handed down through generations and now is managed by the great grandchildren of Albino, Silvio, Monica, Alessandro and Massimo. The winery, since its inception has been located near Lake Garda and the moraine hills in the heart of Custoza winegrowing area in Veneto.
Winemaking with No Chemical Additions
The winery owns more than 45 hectares of vineyards in Sommacampagna, Valeggio, Sona and Villafranca. The grapes produced in their vineyards are used to make wines of Custoza and Bardolino DOC. The family believes in not using chemical agents in the vineyards againsts weeds and insects, rather implementing mechanical and other biological processes. They exclusively use their own grapes for the wine production. The grape varieties cultivated in their vineyards are Garganega, Trebbiano, Trebbianello, Bianca Fernanda, Riesling, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Incorcio Manzoni, Corvina, Rondinella, Merlot and Molinara.
