Belogradec - Varna Winery stands out in Bulgaria's wine culture, as it was established with a vision to produce high-quality wines from its own vineyards. Founded in 2011, the winery is situated on the southwestern slopes of the Novopazar plateau, in the picturesque village of Belogradets. The winery's 1000 acres of vineyards were planted between 2006 and 2008, and they benefit from a rich history of viticulture in the region. Archaeological findings indicate that the ancient Thracians cultivated vines and produced wine here over 2000 years ago. This region is particularly favorable for growing both red and white grape varieties, allowing them to ripen beautifully while maintaining their unique freshness.

The Vineyards of the Winery

The vineyards at Belogradec - Varna enjoy an ideal combination of climate, soil, and exposure, which has been recognized for centuries. This allows the winery to cultivate a diverse range of grape varieties. Among the whites, you will find “Chardonnay,” “Muscat,” “Viognier,” “Gewurztraminer,” German “Riesling,” and the local “Golden Smoke.” The reds include “Pinot Noir,” “Merlot,” “Cabernet Sauvignon,” “Cabernet Franc,” “Syrah,” “Alicante Boucher,” and “Cote Malbec.” Each grape variety is sourced from its native region, ensuring authenticity.
