Bishops winery: premium wines with a distinct taste
The Bishops Vineyard is a small boutique winery at the southern end of Meehan Range and in the proximity of the Coal River Valley in Southern Tasmania. The family are well-experienced in winemaking and understand that work done in the vineyards is vital for the production of natural, premium wines with a distinct taste. Phil Bishop, the owner of the family wine company, was the first person to plant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines here in 1999.
Award-winning wines from Tasmania
The close proximity to Coal River Valley gives a good climate to the region. The soil here is ideal, and the Ralph Bay and Frederick Henry Bay give a maritime climate and cool winds to the region. This is perfect for the cultivation of vines and allows them to use the slow ripening process for the production of the best cool-climate wines. The main grape varieties grown around the winery include Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. When the grapes ripe during early autumn, they are handpicked and taken to the Tasmanian Vintners. The expert winemakers their make award-winning, high-quality red, white, rose, and sparkling wines.
