Inspiring Story of Josef Chromy Wines’ Owner
Being a key person in developing the Tasmanian Food & Wine Industry and former owner of some of the leading wineries, Josef Chromyestablished Josef Chromy Wines in December 2007. Just four years after the launch, the winery bagged various trophies and medals and created an impressive impact on the Australian Wine Industry. In his 20s, Josef started as a Master Butcher and sold Blue Ribbon Meat products. In 1993, he invested his savings in the emerging wine industry. He owned and developed wineries, such as Rochecombe, Jansz, Heemskerk, and Tamar Ridge.
A Passion for Producing the Highest Quality Vines
Josef Chromy Wines owns 61 hectares, where the winery team cultivates top-quality grapes, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. During the harvest season, the berries are handpicked, followed by pressing in a high-tech German press. Preserving each grape variety’s delicate flavour, Josef has introduced innovative winemaking techniques backed by traditional methods.
