Bodegas Grifoll Declara for Five Genreations
The Bodegas Grifoll Declara is a family business currently run by the fifth generation located in El Molar, in the heart of the Priorat region. The winery was set up in 1880, but viticulture has been going on here since 1736. They produce pure Priorat tasting wines, made basically with Garnacha & Cariñena that only age in French Oak barrels. They own two wineries, one located in the D.O. Q Priorat and the other in the new Appellation, Mountain Wines. This new Appellation includes only the wines from the region, Priorat and Montsant, made with vineyards growing at a certain altitude and with strict specifications. All the work takes place by sustainable methods, and they allow the wines to retain their natural taste that reflect the qualities of the terroir.
Exquisite Wines From Spectacular Grapes
They own around 120 hectares of vineyards around 60 years old and 3 hectares of 100 year old vineyards certified by the Appellation Council. The vines are present at both low and high altitudes in the El Molar. There is no use of fertilizers or pesticides, and the harvesting is done manually, and only the best grapes are taken to the cellar for further processing. The main grape types that grow in their vineyards are the red and white Garnacha and Cariñena. The best grapes are used to make their exquisite red and white wines. The use of sustainable methods helps them to preserve the nature and environment and helps to create natural wines that have fruity taste and fragrance.
