A Legacy of Passionate Wine-Making in Catalonia
The Caves Blancher winery, established in 1952, is nestled in the heart of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Catalonia. Its strategic north-facing position allows it to benefit from the refreshing air of the nearby Montserrat mountains, creating an ideal environment for wine production. The winery features traditional Catalan vault architecture and spans five levels, with the last two floors located underground, maintaining a consistent temperature between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius—perfect for aging cavas and wines. By the late 1970s, Caves Blancher began its full operations, building on years of experience.
Commitment to Quality Grapes
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Caves Blancher undertook a significant replanting of its vineyards, adopting a trellis system to enhance grape quality. Among the replanted vineyards are Vilobí and Teia. Guided by the philosophy of founder Antonio Capdevila Pujol, the winery emphasizes meticulous vineyard management to ensure the highest quality grapes. Each plot is vinified separately, allowing for precise traceability and quality control throughout the winemaking process.
Exceptional Flavors in Every Bottle
All grapes used for Caves Blancher wines and cavas are pressed and fermented on-site, utilizing state-of-the-art production techniques. The harvest season runs from mid-August to late September, with grapes picked at their peak ripeness. A careful selection process ensures that only the finest grapes make it to the winery. At the end of the year, the first "coupage" takes place, blending different wine varieties to create a consistent flavor profile that reflects the artisanal essence of Caves Blancher wines and cavas.
