Caves De Rauzan; Three Stories Merged into One
The cooperative movement that emerged in the 1900s managed to introduce the values of humanity and solidarity into our region, located in the very heart of Entre-deux-Mers. In 1933, a group of winegrowers built-in Rauzan a shared winery, which will become 70 years later the first French Cooperative winery to produce AOC wines.
In 1936, winegrowers from the neighbouring communities of Romagne district united and founded the Grangeneuve Cooperative winery. And in 1937, The Cooperative winery of Nerigean was born. Soon after on February 1, 2008, the Cooperative winery of Rauzan and the Grangeneuve Cooperative winery joined their forces and later in 2016 the cooperative winery of Nérigean also joined the Caves of Rauzan.
This new entity now represents more than couple of thousand hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, and includes nearly 340 wingrowers. It produces around two hundred thousand hl of Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée wine every year: Bordeaux Supérieur, Bordeaux (white, rosé and red), Entre-Deux-Mers and Crémant de Bordeaux.
