Jean Villars bought the area of few hectares in 1833 for viticulture and polyculture. He married Eugene Patchon in 1870. They were the first winemakers in Garonne. Château de Cranne is a family business. It’s been seven generations now that terrior is successfully running the operations. The vineyard is famous for the quality of its sweet white wines and red wines.
Technicality, modernization, and mechanisms are the attractions of the cellar for winemaking. The second war led to creating a lot of complications and agricultural mechanization was in the rise. A massive revolution took place in the viticulture and polyculture was also on the rise. The varieties of red grape became fashionable, and the terroir was much into the production of great white wines, restructuring with the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties of grape. The weapons of the vineyard are quality, management, and communication.
Currently, the vineyard includes 43 hectares of area and about 2HA of the plantation. The white grape varieties of wine include Sémillon 6 ha 47, Sauvignon 2 ha 03, Sauvignon Gris 0 ha 92, and Muscadelle 0 ha 66. On the other hand, the red wine grape varieties include Merlot 20 ha 10, Cabernet Franc 5 ha 40 and Cabernet Sauvignon 6 ha 50.
