Discover Château de Rayne Vigneau
It is believed by many, that Château de Rayne Vigneau is the second best wine producer in Sauternes. The winery takes its name from the Baronne de Rayne and Etienne du Vigneau, the earliest owners of the castle. The vineyard covers an area of 77 hectares and grows 74% of Semillion, 24% of Sauvignon Blanc and 2% of Muscadelle. The terroir of the winery, located on a plateau, is made of sand, gravel, rocks, clay and stone soils. Château de Rayne Vigneau’s lowest parcel of vines is at 75 meters above sea level making it one of the lowest vineyards sites in the Sauternes Appellation.
Winemaking at Château de Rayne Vigneau
Château de Rayne Vigneau produces wine using a pneumatic press. Wines are then matured in new French oak barrels. The wines of Château de Rayne Vigneau make the best food pairing with seafood, especially crab, oysters, shellfish and lobster, and can also be paired with veal, pork and roasted chicken.
