Château des Places, Cradle of Bordeaux Wines
Chateau des Places is Located in the Heart of Graves Region
The Graves (Latin for Gravel) region has a rich history of wine making that can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Born from the encounter of two ancient civilizations of wine lovers, the Bordeaux wines are high quality, well-renowned wines. The Graves region has been producing high quality Bordeaux wines for over 2000 years. The Chateau des Places, located at the center of the Graves region, is managed and cared for by the Reynaud family.
Diverse Soils of Graves Produces Unique Wines
The winemaking team of Chateau des Places puts special effort in selecting plots for cultivation of grapes. The selected plot constitutes a variety of diverse soils that complement each other. As a result, they are able to create unique, distinct wines that stand out in this region. These soils and subsoils have a long and complicated history that is intertwined with the origin of the Garonne river and the development of its route. The soils are made up of pebbles and large gravel, sands mixed with silts and clays, and are found on limestone subsoils in certain locations, but mostly on pure sand or clays.
Love and Care for Wine and Nature
The winery is continuously working towards converting their estate into organic farming. Their expertise in wine making and detailed knowledge of the terroir has already enabled them to produce high quality wines that have won numerous awards, both in national and international competitions. In addition, their attempt to give back to nature is a great initiative. They are HVE 3 certified for their effort and respect of the environment.
