Have a commented wine tasting and tour at Château du Taillan
Located at Haut-Médoc, Château du Taillan winery is a 150 hectares wine estate with centuries-old vineyards where the vineyards cover-up around 30 hectares. Château du Taillan dates back to the 18th century, however, it was acquired in 1896 by Henri Cruse. After 4 generations, the estate is currently managed by the 5 Cruse’ daughters. Their wines consist of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon blanc. They produce excellent cru Bourgeois but also one white wine. Château du Taillan is one of the few wineries in the Médoc producing superb white wines.
The underground cellars together with the pink marble altarpiece are listed as French National Heritage Sites, dating from the XVI century, to demonstrate wine aging process’s ancestral methods. They are a must-visit place in the estate.
For activities, enjoy a guided tour through the cellars of the Château as well as learning the winemaking processes, followed by a guided wine tasting event later. Apart from a wine tasting, you can have a gourmet visit of the winery that includes a guided tour through the cellars and the vineyard. After this, there is wine tasting accompanied by snacks such as French cheese, French baguette and meat. If transporting bottles is too tedious they offer wines available in tubes and the bag in bag packages that make it easier for you to take home wine.

Discover the château where the surrender ended the Hundred Years War.
We arrived at the Chateau du Taillan and were greeted by Naomi who took us on the tour of the 16th century building, the Blanche Dame room, the production area with the family's wine collection, and then to the tasting. She answered questions and was very interested in our opinions. The grounds were beautiful and the wine was delicious! It was a lovely drive and very close to Bordeaux.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about all facets of their wine productions. Well versed in anglais. Very amiable.
The visit to Château du Taillan was amazing - it was easy to go there from Bordeaux with public transport (+short walk) our tour and guide at the château was great and the wines were delicious.
The Chateau grounds were beautiful and the buildings were interesting, but the most Important thing you want to hear about is the wine. It was spectacular. We are red wine drinkers and loved their reds, but we even loved their white and rose. Our guide was nice and very knowledgeable about the process. We took the D tram out of Bordeaux and then walked for 30 minutes to get to the château but could have taken a bus and walked less or taken an expensive Uber.
