A Legacy of Lebanese Winemaking Since 1923
The Story
Château Nakad is a family-owned winery with a rich history spanning three generations in the Bekaa Valley. The Nakad family’s passion for winemaking is deeply rooted in their love for the land and its grapes.
Founded in 1923 during the French Mandate in Lebanon, Joseph Nakad's wines quickly gained popularity among French soldiers stationed in the region. His fresh and vibrant vintages became a staple, providing comfort and joy to the troops.
The Winery Today
After Joseph, his son Salim took the reins, transforming Château Nakad into a prominent name in Lebanese wine. Today, Joseph’s grandchildren, under Salim's guidance, continue to uphold the winery's esteemed reputation both locally and internationally. Located in Jdita/Chtaura, the winery benefits from the Bekaa Valley's fertile lands and is built atop ancient wine cellars dating back to the Bronze Age.
The Nakad family produces a diverse range of wines, including red, rosé, white, and sweet varieties, along with the traditional Lebanese anisette liquor, Arack As-Samir. A recent addition to their offerings is Afandello, an artisanal orange-flavored liquor that showcases their innovative spirit.
