A Scenic Location Between Two Mountains
The name Entre-Deux-Monts translates to "between two mountains," aptly describing its picturesque setting between the Rodeberg (Red Mountain) and Zwarteberg (Black Mountain) in the Heuvelland region of Flanders. This area is known for its rolling hills and vibrant greenery, providing an ideal backdrop for viticulture.
Three Generations of Winemaking Tradition
The Bacquaert family has been at the heart of Entre-Deux-Monts since the 1950s. Grandfather Jean Bacquaert initially farmed tobacco, while his son Yves transitioned to wine trading. Today, grandson Martin Bacquaert carries on the family legacy, blending traditional farming techniques with modern winemaking practices to create exceptional wines.
The Rich Soils of Entre-Deux-Monts
Spanning 18 hectares, Entre-Deux-Monts has expanded from its original 3 hectares to accommodate a diverse range of grape varieties. The soil, a mix of sandy loam, iron sandstone, and silex, nourishes the vines, allowing them to thrive. The estate cultivates Chardonnay, Kenrer, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Auxerrois, Sieger, and Acolon grapes, which contribute to a variety of wines, including red, white, rosé, sparkling, and fortified wines.
