Experience great wines and cavas from Fermí Bohigas winery
Fermí Bohigas, S.A., also known as Caves Bohigas is a beautiful winery producing wines and cavas in the Penedès Superior region of Spain. It is situated in the Anoia river basin in Òdena, less than 70 km outside of Barcelona. The cellars and vineyards are located at Can Macià, a vineyard with more than eight centuries of history.
History goes back to the 13 the century
The first mention of Can Macià (then called Mas Moragues) is in documents that date from the 13th century. Since that time, the estate has been in the hands of the same family, though the surname has changed along with the name of the house. In 1933 Joan Vives Gilbert restructured the production of Can Macià to focus more on cava, or cellar aged sparkling wine. Can Macià’s cava first appeared for retail during the Christmas season of 1936. Today, under the Bohigas family, the winery consists of more than 35 hectares of vines on 200 hectares of property, where there are also expanses of cereal crops and woodlands.
