Cantina Pizzolato Winery: Organic Winemaking in Treviso

La Cantina Pizzolato Winery, nestled in the picturesque countryside north of Treviso in Italy's Veneto region, is renowned for producing some of the finest organic wines. The Pizzolato family's winemaking legacy dates back generations, and today, the fifth generation is dedicated to upholding this tradition by crafting high-quality organic wines.

Promoting Biodiversity in the Vineyards

The philosophy of La Cantina Pizzolato is rooted in a commitment to biodiversity and sustainable viticulture. Settimo Pizzolato began his winemaking journey with his father Gino in 1981, driven by a passion for nature and a desire to create exceptional organic wines. In 1991, the estate achieved USDA organic certification, allowing them to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Prosecco di Treviso DOC region. Spanning 72 hectares, La Cantina Pizzolato collaborates with other local producers, contributing an additional 48 hectares to enhance their organic wine offerings. The winery employs the Charmat method for sparkling wines, utilizing organic grapes such as Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Incrocio Manzoni, and Chardonnay, alongside red varieties like Merlot, Cabernet, and Raboso.

Innovative Practices in Winemaking

La Cantina Pizzolato's modern wine cellar is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including solar panels and new wooden barrels for aging. Settimo has skillfully integrated traditional methods with innovative practices to enhance organic wine production. The winery's roof features over 570 photovoltaic solar panels, and a state-of-the-art organic water purifier ensures that 100% of filtered water is reused. In 2018, the winery was recognized as an “Excellence of the Landscape” at Vinitaly and was showcased at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, selected from over 500 projects across Italy.

I appreciate this winery for its versatility: in the wine list you can find the most common wine (for meals) to move on to the more refined ones. The conversion to organic is appreciated, especially the cultivation of the piwi grape. Both the premises, the one for shopping and the one for events, stand out due to their modern design. The staff, very knowledgeable and engaging, was always impeccable in helping in the choice of wines.

Excellent cellar and excellent wines! I was lucky enough to get to know the Pizzolato winery thanks to an experience that included a visit to the wine cellar and a tasting. Nicolò, who accompanied us on this trip, proved to be very knowledgeable and helpful, guiding us through the stages of wine processing and the history of the company. Finishing in style with a tasting of high quality organic wines, with special mention to the local Raboso Malanotte!

I am part of a small group of 4 friends and thanks to a SMARTBOX I had the opportunity to visit the Pizzolato winery. I would like to thank Niccoló who was my guide and who illustrated with extraordinary enthusiasm and competence the production of the wines of this winery. He then introduced us to the tasting of a Prosecco, an Incrocio Manzoni and a Raboso, describing their characteristics and accompanying everything with a rich platter of cold cuts and cheeses from 0 km. Finally we tasted Raboso Malanotte, really full-bodied and pleasant . The experience was very positive for all four of us. Congratulations on the organization!

They gave us a gift box and among the various proposals we chose this winery, among others from our areas. Prepared and attentive guy. Very good tasting from the three types of wine to the different sausages from km 0. All in a private room, a careful choice since the objective is for the client to feel comfortable. Fair prices and very good quality. Being a winery that works mainly abroad, it also adapts to the needs of other countries through the aesthetics of the bottles or labels. We will definitely return.

Winery that focuses on sustainability, really interesting wines and a trained and dedicated guide. A friend of mine and I were greeted upon our arrival by Anna, a young girl who with her simplicity and preparation was able to illustrate to us the reality of the Cantina Pizzolato, which has been producing organic wines for some time and has sustainability as one of its core points. The wines are very interesting and go perfectly with the cured meats and cheeses from the same winery. We were pleasantly impressed, both by the innovative structure and by the care to create harmony with the surrounding environment, by the wines and by Anna herself, friendly and helpful. Recommended experience.
