Mas Rodo Vitivinicola is a winery located in the High Penedes over the valleys of Mediona. It is at an altitude of five hundred meters and covers an area of about one-fifty hectares. It is present in a subzone of Penedes called Alts d’Ancosa, almost sixty kilometers away from Barcelona and surrounded by a dense forest. Mas Rodo’s architecture got the ‘Living With Wood’ award by the Spanish Council of Promotion of Wood and Arquinfad, sponsored by the Science Minister and the Spanish Government. In the area, the winery is present at the top of a mountain. The river borders the winery and makes it an exciting spot for hunters and bird- watchers. The beautiful environment and low pollution enhances the beauty of the area. The Church of Santa Maria and Castell de Mediona are historical sites present here. A lot of emphasis is on using eco-friendly and organic techniques for producing wine. The estate has perfect conditions for vine cultivation. Sandy, clayey, and stony soils paired with well-ventilated slopes and vast temperature differences between day and night provide the ideal characteristics for high-quality grapes. The main varieties of grape that grow here include the Montonega, Macabeu, Riesling, Merlot, and the Cabernet Sauvignon. The owners of the winery work very hard to express the quality of grapes and the beautiful environment in their famous red and white wines. The wines show the true quality and care of their mountain terrain. The winery welcomes visitors all year round.
