Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier Cultivated for their Sparkling Wines
The main grapes grown include all traditional Champagne grape varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Their wines age wonderfully supple and possess a fresh and crisp taste.
The Journey from France to New Zealand to Establish a Winery
Daniel of No.1 Family Estate wanted to make the best Methode Traditionelle wines in the world. After visiting New Zealand, he bought land in Wairau Valley town of Renwick. He thought that the Marlborough could rival the gifted Champagne region of France with their unique soils and climate. Their vineyard is located in the Wairau River bed area and has ideal soils, temperature, and rainfall that makes it perfect for vine cultivation. Since 2009, their vineyards have a sustainability certificate, and they work to protect the environment.
