Palliser Estate Wines is proudly owned by a dedicated group of New Zealanders who have spent over thirty years crafting wines that reflect the unique character of our region. Located in Martinborough, which produces just 1% of New Zealand's wine, we are committed to creating exceptional wines that embody the essence of our land, climate, and heritage.

The Lands

Our estate is renowned for its outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc, and aromatic varietals. The cool, dry climate and free-draining soils of the southern Wairarapa sub-region provide the perfect conditions for growing high-quality grapes.

Under the guidance of head Winemaker Guy McMaster, we have initiated an organic vineyard program aimed at producing iconic wines that connect us to our Martinborough roots. Currently, 35% of our six vineyards on the esteemed Martinborough Terrace are managed organically, with three vineyards certified by BioGro NZ. We aim to achieve 100% organic management by 2025.

All our wines are 100% estate grown, and we take pride in being the first CEMARS certified winery in the world since 2009, recognizing our commitment to measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Our stylish cellar door welcomes visitors year-round, offering a delightful selection of wines for tasting. Guests can enjoy personalized tastings or relax with a leisurely lunch in our Summer Restaurant or the beautiful courtyard surrounded by park-like scenery.

Really nice vibe here. Food presentation is excellent. The squid ink risotto was undercooked but the staff replaced it with a different main of our choice. Good choice of indoor and outdoor seating here

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Palliser Estate Winery, and it was an unforgettable experience! The drive from Wellington was a breeze, making it an easy getaway. The restaurant boasts an elegant and timeless design that perfectly complements the beautiful surroundings. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. Now, let’s talk about the food! I was particularly impressed by the homemade squid ink pasta—absolutely divine! Each bite was bursting with flavor, showcasing the freshness of their Italian dishes. To top it off, their Riesling is simply the best! It was so refreshing and paired wonderfully with my meal. I highly recommend Palliser Estate Winery for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience. I can’t wait to return!

Enjoyed a paddle of 3 different wines and a Riesling in a relaxed atmosphere with view over the vineyard. The Riesling was fabulous (as Germans we are very experienced with Riesling, so thumbs up)! Also a nice touch: 5$ of the paddle price will be donated for a good cause. @ Owners: Give the girl with the curly hair (unfortunately we did not get her name) a big raise!! She was the perfect hostess: professional, experienced, lovely and authentic personality, always with a smile and good mood, giving us good recommendations of the wines. It was a perfect visit!

Very nice area, interesting wine tasting. Mr. Andy was friendly and explained very well. We were very delighted! We highly recommend this area! We had a delicious sharing platter for lunch with a special mention for the beetroot chutney!
