Puerta del Lobo is an award-winning winery in El Marqués, Querétaro — named Mexico's "Winery of the Year 2025" by the Mexican Sommelier Association and holder of more than 60 international medals. Just 35 minutes from Querétaro city and about 2.5 hours from Mexico City, it is a full-day destination rather than a quick stop. Guests can enjoy guided tastings among the vines, a seasonal harvest experience (August to October) and family-friendly activities. What truly sets Puerta del Lobo apart is the food: two on-site restaurants — Ruinas, serving wood-fire cuisine, and Mirador, a wine bar with sweeping views made for sunsets. It is one of the few estates on the Querétaro wine route where great food and great wine share the same view. The estate also hosts weddings and private events, offers on-site lodging, and ships its wines across Mexico through its online store.

The winery is a dream location and provided the perfect backdrop for our gender reveal party. While the organization and planning of some aspects of the event could be improved, the staff was friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the moment. It's definitely a place with great potential for celebrating important occasions.

A vineyard close to Qro, there are several restaurants in here. I visited “Ruinas” and food was amazing! We asked for a bottle of Rosse which was pretty good. They have live music and Service is also very good! Just be prepare to walk in some dirt as its name says you are walking in to ruins. The also sell their wines in a little store at the entrance.

It's a great vineyard, the facilities are beautiful and clean, and the restaurant, Ruinas, has very good food and service. We booked a tasting tour, but the major problem was that a group of people didn't heed the instructions to arrive on time at 4:00 PM, and we were made to wait for more than 15 to 20 minutes before we could begin. This type of logistical issue on the part of the tour team is an area for improvement; they need to better respect everyone's time. Samuel, our guide, provided excellent service and explanations.

This winery is beautiful. We went to the viewpoint, and the view is simply spectacular. We tried a blended beer—very tasty—and a young red wine. Highly recommended! A glass of wine and the view in this peaceful setting—simply perfect. To get there, a shuttle bus runs to the winery entrance, where the parking lot is also located. The bus runs approximately every half hour. There is a minimum spend of $250 per person, which is easily reached with just a few drinks.

Highly recommended. The sunset from the viewpoint is a beautiful experience. The Vertical restaurant offers good food. Unfortunately, neither coffee nor dessert was on the menu at the viewpoint itself. 😒

The view from the Mirador restaurant is stunning. I arrived early, but I was told the best time is sunset, so reservations are recommended. I appreciated that all the wines were available by the glass and some by the bottle. My only complaint is that there are only two restrooms, both in the tasting area and at the viewpoint, which seems a bit limited for the size of the property. The restrooms in the garden are much better, and there are many more of them. That was my favorite spot, the garden, right where the skydinner takes place. I was visiting the winery for a Pilates class, hence the photos with the mats.
