Located in Soutelinho-Favaios near Alijó in the highest part of the Cima Corgo sub region of the Douro above the Pinhão River.
Our vineyards have a long history dating back to at least the late 18th century. There are 3 of the granite markers (Feitoria) that were put in place for the demarcation of the Port region (1758 to 1761) on the property. We believe we are the only single Quinta with 3 of these Feitoria.
The area has always produced grapes for high quality ports and following a renovation project that took place in the mid-90s / early 2000s they began to make DOC Douro table wines. There was, however, limited investment over the subsequent 10 years and the winery was put up for sale in 2016. Pedra Alta was purchased in July 2018 by the new owners, who have the intention of helping our winemaker, João Pires, realise the full potential of this amazing piece of land through investment in the vineyards and winery as well as a complete brand and range refresh.

We are so incredibly fortunate to have been hosted/guided by Maria on our tour and tasting. This was the highlight of our Douro Valley trip! Please, please do yourself a favor and taste (and then purchase) the 20 year tawny port. This was the best port we tasted from all of the places we visited.

We booked a vineyard tour with wine tasting. The tour took place in a kind of Portuguese Jeep; it was a vintage vehicle 😊 Our guide, Maria, was fantastic and answered all our questions. The wine tasting was the icing on the cake! I highly recommend it! (I can't wait to order the wines we tasted!)

We visited and did a tour with Maria and Mariana. They were both well informed and warm and welcoming. They then drove us to the top of the hill which has spectacular views. This is where we had a delicious picnic and tasted their spectacular wines. Would highly recommend. Genuine people with a passion for their craft.
