A Rich Heritage

Quinta do Infantado boasts a storied history dating back to 1816. Originally established for Infante D. Pedro, who later became King D. Pedro IV of Portugal and D. Pedro I of Brazil, this winery has been in the hands of the Roseira family for over a century. Nestled just 4km from Pinhão in the renowned Vale de Gontelho, this micro-region is celebrated for its exceptional wine quality. The Roseira family, hailing from Covas do Douro, has been involved in winemaking for six generations, initially focusing on vine cultivation before expanding into fortified wine production with the acquisition of Quinta do Infantado.

Turning Dreams into Reality

In 1979, João's sons, Luís and António, embraced the principles of terroir and vigneron, launching estate bottling for their premium wines. This pivotal move allowed Quinta do Infantado to produce estate-grown and bottled Porto Wine, challenging the traditional dominance of Vila Nova de Gaia’s négociants. Even after the passing of the two brothers, their heirs have upheld the winery's commitment to quality, ensuring that the family legacy continues to thrive.

Exceptional Vineyards

Quinta do Infantado spans 46 hectares of vineyards in Covas do Douro, with 12 hectares dedicated to certified organic viticulture. The remaining land employs integrated production methods that prioritize sustainability. The vineyards feature a diverse selection of over 20 Douro grape varieties, both white and red, planted across various altitudes from 150m to 350m. This rich diversity enables Quinta do Infantado to produce a wide range of high-quality wines, appealing to both casual drinkers and connoisseurs alike.
