Uue-Saaluse Winery is a delightful family-run business nestled in the picturesque Southern Estonia. We proudly host the highest organic seabuckthorn and grape fields in the country. Here, you can enjoy a quaint winery experience surrounded by stunning landscapes and the tranquility of rural life. Our winemaker, who is also a certified sommelier, warmly welcomes you to our establishment. Founded in 2017, our mission is to produce high-quality wines and berry wines exclusively from Estonian raw materials, particularly sourced from Southern Estonia. We cultivate some of our ingredients on-site while partnering with local berry growers for the rest.
Uue-Saaluse Wines
At Uue-Saaluse Winery, we craft a variety of unique fruit wines using seabuckthorn, rhubarb, black currant, flowering quince, strawberries, raspberries, and more. Our grape wines are made from the Solaris variety. We are passionate about experimenting with new flavors, ensuring that each bottle tells a story of our region's rich agricultural heritage.
Environmental Commitment
Situated within the Haanja Nature Park, a vital area in the NATURA 2000 network, Uue-Saaluse Winery is dedicated to preserving the region's diverse ecosystems and cultural heritage for future generations. We strive to operate sustainably, using natural resources efficiently. As organic producers, we prioritize a clean environment and exclusively utilize organic fertilizers in our berry cultivation.
Our winery is located in Võrumaa, Rõuge municipality, in Uue-Saaluse village, alongside the serene Alajärv lake. We are just a 10-15 minute drive from Võru, approximately 15 km away. To reach us, take the Võru-Haanja road and turn off at the Risttee bus stop, which is 4 km from Kavadi lake.

Excellent place in rural South-Estonia. You just need to call prior arrival to check for opening and it's all good from there.
Loved their Seaberry wine and their signature Uue-Saaluse Romantiline.
Prices are also great for such experience. We visited it while trekking, and it was just lovely sitting by the lake, drinking wine with friends, having their cat and dog wander around made it even more cozy.

It's a local family owned winery which is rather rare in Estonia. The owners are fantastic people, and the wines taste like real ones :) There is also a small shop where you can buy local products.

Despite the dreary autumn weather, it was very homely and cozy. We learned how to make homemade wines and made Mulligputru which tasted great :) and the wines tasted surprised us with their flavors and were wonderful.

We’ve visited this awesome little Estonian winery every summer since it opened. Mati and Maris are excellent hosts. Their down to earth attitude and exceptional knowledge of wine, tasting room with a cozy atmosphere and lake view and of course the DELICIOUS WINE, always creates an amazing experience! They have a variety of different tasty fruit wines and if you’re lucky some limited edition gin. My absolute favorite is Rosanna (raspberry, rhubarb sparkling). I highly recommend to pop in if you get a chance :)
