Château Panet – A Tradition Passed Down to Four Generations
Château Panet is an old, flagship estate of the Carles family, acquired by Jean-Claude Carles in 1924. Committed to winemaking and vineyards, he expanded his wine business to great lengths. In 1948, he purchased Clos La Rose, followed by Château Haut-Fonrazade in 1957. The Haut-Fonrazade estate satisfied his unique winemaking passion during the post-war years. Later in 1961, he acquired another ten-hectare site, Château Coudert, where he met his wife, Marie-Danielle Carles. The couple continued their family traditions and renovated the old buildings. In 1994, Marie-Danielle inherited the family estate in Pomerol and established Château Croix des Rouzes.
Blend of Innovative and Conventional Methods in the Vineyards
Today, Jérôme and Gilles Carles preserve what their forefathers had started. The two sons actively take part in all the activities associated with the vineyards and the cellars. They bought Clos Jacquemeau in 1999. Introducing new technologies and innovative practices have helped the owners to highlight their unique product line. The duo mainly focuses on two grape varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, cultivated with organic methods. These wines are aged and refined in oak barrels and vats to give them a subtle wooden essence.
