Vignobles Carles is a family-owned winery located in the stunning region of Bordeaux, with four vineyards in Saint-Emilion and one in Pomerol. Nestled in the beautiful countryside, this winery is celebrated for its organic red wines, crafted under the AOC Saint-Emilion and AOC Pomerol designations. Visitors of all ages can enjoy wine tastings while soaking in the breathtaking views of the vineyards.
A Legacy of Winemaking Through Generations
Founded in 1924 by Jean-Claude Carles, Vignobles Carles has a rich history as a flagship estate of the Carles family. Jean-Claude expanded the estate by acquiring Clos La Rose in 1948 and Château Haut-Fonrazade in 1957, where he pursued his passion for winemaking. In 1961, he purchased Château Coudert, where he met his wife, Marie-Danielle Carles. Together, they preserved family traditions and renovated the estate. In 1994, Marie-Danielle inherited the family estate in Pomerol and established Château Croix des Rouzes.
Innovative Practices in the Vineyard
Today, Jérôme and Gilles Carles continue their family's legacy, actively managing the vineyards and cellars. In 1999, they acquired Clos Jacquemeau, further enhancing their portfolio. By blending traditional methods with modern techniques, they focus on two primary grape varieties: Merlot and Cabernet Franc. These grapes are cultivated using organic practices and aged in oak barrels and vats, imparting a delicate wooden character to the wines.
