Cantine Astroni, located in the Phlegraean Fields near Naples, Italy, was founded to enhance the region’s native vines and reinterpret local winemaking traditions through modern enological innovations. Nestled on the slopes of the Astroni Crater, a former Bourbon hunting reserve now managed by WWF Italy, the winery benefits from unique volcanic soils that preserve ancient grape varieties like Falanghina and Piedirosso. With over a century of experience, the Varchetta family has dedicated generations to producing wines that express the territory’s character. Cantine Astroni combines tradition, innovation, and culture, offering educational vineyard tours, cellar visits, tastings, and food-pairing experiences. Its mission celebrates biodiversity, native vines, and the art of “territory in a glass.”

We did the Tour Phlegraios. It was a nice informative tour. The location really fit well with the story behind it. We got to taste 3 varieties of wine and were given delicious appetizers to go with it. I would definitely recommend this beautiful place to visit once and in addition purchase a nice bottle of wine as a souvenir for the people at home!

An excellent afternoon outside of Naples City

We had a really great time visiting this winery as a family. One of the family members of the vineyard described the wines we tasted, prepared delicious food to go along with the full tasting experience, and showed us around the volcanic grounds describing for us the history, nature and winemaking process of this truly unique site on the edge of a nature preserve volcano crater lake. They had activities to keep the 5 and 3 year old in our group entertained and gave a truly excellent afternoon for the rest of us adults. One of the highlights of our trip

I have had the opportunity to visit Cantine Astroni several times over the past year, the first time was a pleasant discovery, to date a confirmation of quality. An ideal place to enjoy a day in a relaxing setting and in a perfect atmosphere of conviviality. Cristina, as a good host, masterfully guides the tastings of the winery's excellent wines, making the key aspects visible even to those who have recently approached the world of wine. A visit to the vineyard located in a magical place directly above the Astroni crater is also very pleasant and recommended... the anecdotes told by Cristina make you remember being in a place with a long history! I can't wait to return for the next event!

Christina was very informative and passionate about explaining her family's winery history. The cheese and ham table served with the wines was amazing. However, I think it took over the taste of the wines as they were rather strong in taste and did not pair quite well with the wine tasting. Otherwise, an amazing location but hard to reach without a car. The wines weren't of my preference but I did like the Rosé Brut (70% Piedirosso 30% Falanghina).

Selected and quality wines. Excellent Falanghina dei Campi Flegrei. Excellent quality/price ratio. I recommend a visit with tasting, by appointment, because it is very interesting.
