Cantine Astroni: A Winery Shaped by Nature

Located on the outer slopes of the Astroni crater, Cantine Astroni is nestled in the Phlegraean Fields, a stunning natural reserve between Naples and Pozzuoli. This unique location, enriched by volcanic soil and the gentle embrace of the sea, inspires the winery's commitment to preserving and promoting the rich winemaking traditions passed down through generations.

A Legacy of Winemaking and Hospitality

The Varchetta family's winemaking history spans over a century. In 1892, Vincenzo Varchetta expanded the family business, integrating wine production into a successful commercial venture. His son, Don Giovanni, continued this legacy, involving his children and grandchildren in the art of winemaking. In 1999, the Varchetta family established Cantine Astroni, blending traditional techniques with modern practices to create exceptional wines while fostering a culture of hospitality.

Exceptional Wines from Campania

At Cantine Astroni, four vineyards cover 12 hectares, where the family cultivates high-quality Falanghina and Piedirosso grapes with care and passion. The winery produces award-winning red and white wines, as well as delightful sparkling options. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside while participating in a unique wine tasting experience, making it a perfect destination for wine lovers and travelers alike.

Cristina was the perfect "hostess" and gave me and my group of friends a very pleasant day full of nature, food and good wine. The visit between the vineyards and the cellar was made even more interesting because Cristina not only told us the story of the Astroni cellars and their wines, but also told us very well about the history and creation of the Campi Flegrei up to the present day. An experience that I highly recommend.

I have had the opportunity to visit Cantine Astroni several times over the past year, the first time was a pleasant discovery, to date a confirmation of quality. An ideal place to enjoy a day in a relaxing setting and in a perfect atmosphere of conviviality. Cristina, as a good host, masterfully guides the tastings of the winery's excellent wines, making the key aspects visible even to those who have recently approached the world of wine. A visit to the vineyard located in a magical place directly above the Astroni crater is also very pleasant and recommended... the anecdotes told by Cristina make you remember being in a place with a long history! I can't wait to return for the next event!

Christina was very informative and passionate about explaining her family's winery history. The cheese and ham table served with the wines was amazing. However, I think it took over the taste of the wines as they were rather strong in taste and did not pair quite well with the wine tasting. Otherwise, an amazing location but hard to reach without a car. The wines weren't of my preference but I did like the Rosé Brut (70% Piedirosso 30% Falanghina).

Selected and quality wines. Excellent Falanghina dei Campi Flegrei. Excellent quality/price ratio. I recommend a visit with tasting, by appointment, because it is very interesting.

I had the opportunity to visit Cantine Astroni on the occasion of an event organized by our Rotaract Club. The route prepared consisted of a sensory laboratory to get closer to wine through the stimulation of taste, smell and touch. Three types of wine from their cellar were combined with some home-made wines and some experiments that entertained and fascinated all the guests. Cristina, who accompanied us, was very good in explaining to us the whole history of the Astroni and accompanying us in this fantastic experience. I will definitely come back for another event.
