The Benedetič Winery

The winery Benedetič is located on the fringe of Goriška Brda, in Western Slovenia, bordering the Italian wine-growing area of Collio where the rolling-hill landscape of the “Brda” slowly meets the lowlands of the Friuli plain. The knowledge of winegrowing and winemaking has been handed down from generations Benedetič’s ever since 1923 when Valentin Keber and his son-in-law Andrej Benedetič purchased 2 hectares of vineyards – bearing the name Brgalotišče. The vineyards were named after the specific rocks in the region, called "balote" in the local dialect, which can be found across the vineyards even nowadays.

Vineyard Terrains of Benedetič

The vineyard plots are located in 12 different locations, a fact that makes cultivation slightly more difficult on the one side, however, the particularities of each micro-location on the other side remarkably impart the wines with a wide range of diversity and character. The family prides itself on its wines, claiming that the vines are grown on soil that was formed at least 60 million years ago. Tradition plays a huge role in winemaking, building on the experience while following state-of-the-art trends in wine-growing and cultivation in general.

Really nice experience. Gave us a little tour of the space, explained how they make their wines. Then we had a wonderful tasting with a full range of wines and some lovely local cheeses and cold cuts. They even threw in some of their homemade olive oil. Would recommend :D

During our holiday in Slovenia we did a wine tasting in Benedetic. We were very well received by Petra. After a short explanation about the great location and the modern winery, we were able to taste some delicious wines and olive oil. We received bread, cheese and salami. All this for a good price. What a great experience! I would recommend it to everyone!

Great experience. We had the opportunity to try the tasting menu which includes several courses of their wines and a side of charcuterie or cheese. Very informative and informative. They presented some historical facts about their tradition. Very interesting because we can present the traditionally grown wines in this region which are grown in Danish days. Nice. Worth a visit.

Winery in a wonderful location, the lady who welcomed us was very kind and very nice. We did a tasting and tried several wines including a fantastic barrel-aged Chardonnay. We returned home with two boxes of excellent wines!

Really lovely experience, seeing some of where they make the wines and hearing all about the family history and everything they produce on their land, plus of course some fantastic wine! We bought several bottles and would come back :) thank you!
