Location and History

Situated in the picturesque Black Forest of Colorado, just across from the Air Force Academy and near the stunning Garden of the Gods, Black Forest Meadery has been a family-owned gem since its establishment on August 12, 2007. The Shapiro family has dedicated themselves to creating high-quality meads and wines that reflect the unique flavors of the region.

From Humble Beginnings to Success

The Shapiro family's journey began with a simple passion for winemaking. They started by growing vines in pots, amazed by the results. However, a harsh winter in 2009 led to significant losses, prompting them to regroup and expand their vineyard. By 2010, they had planted 600 vines, showcasing their resilience and commitment to the craft. Initially, they produced wines using homebrew kits, but their dedication has since transformed into a thriving meadery.

My friends and I got to experience the wonderful world of Black Forest meatery during a bachelorette party. We are hardcore Renaissance fair goers and mead is an eventual. This is a little Colorado Springs hidden gem, the owners are as awesome as their delicious mead. There wasn't a single meat on their list that wasn't delicious I ended up leaving the tasting with three bottles of their delicious meat.

I loved the experience of the Black Forest Meadery. It is family owned, and the Meads are made with local honey, they are very tasty. I really enjoyed a particular Mead made with Lavender and honey as well. Shawna is down to earth and easy to like. If you are in the Black Forest area, this is a great place to stop and take in the view while enjoying a glass of locally made heaven.
