A Family Legacy of Winemaking in the Canary Islands
Rich History Since the 1940s
In the 1940s, the Ferrera family acquired Finca Las Vigas, establishing a remarkable vineyard 1,000 meters above sea level in the Guimar Valley. Tomás Ferrera, the founder, dedicated himself to building stunning dry stone walls that still support the native vines today. Each day, he would ascend the slopes with his mule, carefully placing stones to create a unique landscape that showcases the region's volcanic soil.
Commitment to Quality
At Bodegas Ferrera, the focus remains on producing high-quality wines that reflect the essence of the Canary Islands. The vineyards, nestled between a volcano and a pine forest at the base of the majestic Pico del Valle, benefit from a unique microclimate. Innovative thermochromic inks on the labels ensure that wine enthusiasts can enjoy their selections at the perfect temperature.
Diverse Grape Varieties
Bodegas Ferrera cultivates a variety of grapes that highlight the region's unique terroir. The main white varieties include Listán Blanco de Canarias, Malvasía Aromática, Albillo Criollo, and Vijariego Blanco. For rosé wines, they utilize Malvasía Rosada, Moscatel Negro, and Listán Negro. The red wines feature native Vijariego Negro, alongside popular varieties like Tempranillo and Syrah. The winery practices organic viticulture, ensuring a sustainable approach to winemaking.
