Rich History Since the 1940s

In the 1940s, the Ferrera family acquired Finca Las Vigas, establishing a remarkable vineyard 1,000 meters above sea level in the Guimar Valley. Tomás Ferrera, the founder, dedicated himself to building stunning dry stone walls that still support the native vines today. Each day, he would ascend the slopes with his mule, carefully placing stones to create a unique landscape that showcases the region's volcanic soil.

Commitment to Quality

At Bodegas Ferrera, the focus remains on producing high-quality wines that reflect the essence of the Canary Islands. The vineyards, nestled between a volcano and a pine forest at the base of the majestic Pico del Valle, benefit from a unique microclimate. Innovative thermochromic inks on the labels ensure that wine enthusiasts can enjoy their selections at the perfect temperature.

Diverse Grape Varieties

Bodegas Ferrera cultivates a variety of grapes that highlight the region's unique terroir. The main white varieties include Listán Blanco de Canarias, Malvasía Aromática, Albillo Criollo, and Vijariego Blanco. For rosé wines, they utilize Malvasía Rosada, Moscatel Negro, and Listán Negro. The red wines feature native Vijariego Negro, alongside popular varieties like Tempranillo and Syrah. The winery practices organic viticulture, ensuring a sustainable approach to winemaking.

It was an incredibly beautiful and serene vineyard with stunning views. I enjoyed the dynamic style of wine tasting/food pairing at a different spot of the vineyard for each wine. The story behind the Bodegas Ferrera was fascinating. The white wines and rosè were excellent. I definitely recommend this experience for everyone who wants to learn more about Canary wines 🍷

What a beautiful place! Our visit to Bodegas Ferrera was conducted by the lovely Dácil who made the whole experience very enjoyable. We were taken up to the farm in a mini bus and then enjoyed learning about the history and special location of the farm and about the different varieties of grapes grown. Dácil worked tirelessly behind the scenes to provide us with tastings and tapas in 3 stunning locations. This is one of the best winery visits I’ve been on, just a small group of 7 and no time restraints or rushing. Excellent value for money and the wine was pretty good too! 🍷 Tip: arrive early if driving as parking in the village can be difficult 👍

Fantastic experience. Juan Rubén has allowed us to see the facilities and taste many of his wines. His dedication and passion can be seen in every detail. A visit to the winery is a must if you are a consumer of good wines and visit Tenerife. A winery in a natural environment of great value, worth visiting.

What a wonderful Tenerife experience! The high quality of the Ferrera wines was matched by our outstanding hosts - Dacil and Juan. We were in good hands as Dacil brought us from the bodega's store in town to the finca to learn about the history of the bodega, to visit the vineyards and to meet the finca's animal inhabitants. We were treated to a lovely tasting, taking place in different parts of the property and perfectly paired with Canarian tapas. Juan, the current winemaker and grandson of Ferrera's founder shared some additional insights to this treasure of a family business. As visitors to wineries in many countries, this experence will be considered one of the absolute standouts!

We had a private tour of Bodegas Ferrera, including a tasting of five of their wines. This is without a doubt the most stunningly beautiful winery we’ve ever visited—simply breathtaking. Until now, we’ve been big fans of the wines from Lanzarote, as those we tried on other islands didn’t quite measure up. However, Bodegas Ferrera not only met but exceeded our expectations. The charming tour left us with no doubt that this family-run winery is doing everything right. You can’t help but envy the family for this gem nestled in the pine forests above Arafo.
