Carga Winery Estate

The Čarga estate comprises 25 ha, of which 15 ha are vineyards making it one of the largest farms in Brda. the vineyards are located in selected locations, where the marl soil and the Mediterranean sun with the best alpine influences create the best conditions for the growth of the vine. The rise in grassy terraces, as they place great emphasis on organic and organic production methods, which they professionally call integrated production. The yield per hectare is extremely low, which is in favor of high-quality wine, as it is known that low vine loads ensure a high-quality crop. It is extremely important to choose the right time of harvest so that the grapes are picked when they are optimally ripe. This means that sugar and tartaric acid are in the right proportions.

Wine Making and Wines at the Winery

The winery produces seventeen different wines, so the process of turning grapes into wine is very demanding, as they are to be adapted to individual grape varieties. The grapes of all white varieties are macerated to achieve great fullness, consistency, and a more intense and lasting taste in the wines. Wines from older vineyards and all red wines are stored and aged in 225-liter barrels made of French and Slovenian oak (barrique technology) and in large 20-hectolitre wooden barrels. These wines experience constant contact with oxygen in barrels, and their proportion of fruit aromas is slowly decreasing, but they are associated with new wine aromas. Each of the wines has its personality, allowing the drinker to sense all the intoxication that a glass of premium wine can offer.
