Castello Bonomi - The Only Chateau in Franciacorta, Lombardy

Nestled on the scenic slopes of Monte Orfano, Castello Bonomi stands as the only chateau in the Franciacorta region of Lombardy. This stunning estate is named after a 19th-century liberty-style building designed by Antonio Tagliaferri. Surrounded by the picturesque Oglio River and Lake Iseo, the winery is bordered by the majestic Rhaetian Alps and features a blend of charming villages and lush vineyards. Committed to sustainability and social responsibility, Castello Bonomi actively supports local health initiatives through fundraising for the Brescia foundation.

Vineyards in a Natural Amphitheater

Spanning 24 hectares, the vineyards of Castello Bonomi are located in Coccaglio, within a stunning natural amphitheater formed by Mount Orfano. Positioned at an elevation of 275 meters, the vineyards benefit from optimal sunlight exposure from the south, southeast, and southwest. The hilly terrain, combined with an ancient park, creates a unique microclimate that allows for the complete ripening of grapes, resulting in wines with exceptional character.

Premium French Grape Varieties

At Castello Bonomi, the focus on quality is evident in their cultivation and irrigation practices, which prioritize low yields to enhance grape quality. The estate primarily grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the key grape varieties used in crafting their Franciacorta DOCG wines. The winery features state-of-the-art cellars where wines are fermented at controlled temperatures. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, allowing the wines to develop their desired flavors and aromas. Each year, approximately 150,000 bottles of wine are produced, showcasing the dedication to excellence that defines Castello Bonomi.

Sorry I have to say the introduction speech is too long, and I can't recognise from the accent. The rest are great.

I was at this winery on the occasion of the Franciacorta Festival. I must say that the boy who acted as our guide was very dedicated, knowledgeable and friendly. The Franciacorta that they made us taste was very good, which is why we then decided to buy a bottle directly and drink it right there.

A very beautiful estate, the guide was very friendly and explained the grape varieties very well. Beautiful cellar and good tasting. It's a shame we couldn't visit the castle. I recommend it to those who love niche wines. Manuela. I would like to add that I had an aperitif with friends; we tasted a Zero Vintage dosage from 2016, and they really appreciated it. I recommend it!! Congratulations on the Bonomi estate.

A very charming place, a small but excellent-quality winery. Even the sommelier who explains the food is up to par.

Excellent tasting accompanied by cured meats and cheeses. Paola is really good and joins the guided tour. Definitely worth a try if you are passing through these parts.

I participated in a tasting for the Franciacorta Festival... a more than positive experience, magnificent scenery, the castle is a little gem, unfortunately not open to visitors... Thanks to Matteo, who explained the wines to me with kindness and professionalism, followed by a satisfying shopping trip
