Sara, Vanessa and Babettli Azzone are the owners of this wonderful property that has been handed down for four generations. The story began a long time ago. The origins of the estate date back to 1404, when the Roveglio family purchased land and farmhouses from the monastery of San Salvatore in Brescia. This is how the name was born, but the wine adventures actually began at the end of the 19th century, when the great-grandfather, Federico Zweifel, left the Canton of Glarus, in the heart of Switzerland where he was born, to find better working conditions in Italy.

In Italy he fell in love with Lake Garda, where he found lush countryside and land that would prove ideal for growing vines.

Federico Zweifel began to purchase land and transform the fields (often abandoned) into well-ordered vineyards. His son Giusto did the same, initially producing wine only for friends and local customers. For many years the production methods remained the traditional ones that farmers passed down from generation to generation. A fundamental transformation occurred in the 1980s when, upon the death of his father-in-law Giusto, Dr. Giovanni Felice Azzone, Professor of General Pathology at the University of Padua and member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, took over the management of Tenuta Roveglia.

Giovanni Felice Azzone has been passionate about investing in this wine business and applying his courageous approach to technical innovation. His experience as a scientist, with responsibilities in world-famous laboratories, had increasingly convinced him that the best results are obtained above all by listening and talking to all colleagues. Thanks to the indispensable expertise of Paolo Fabiani, now director of the company and a valuable collaborator of Dr. Azzone since the beginning, the company has begun to review its production methods and introduce new, more modern winemaking protocols and systems.

This peculiar combination of tradition and innovation, of love for the land and scientific research, has led Tenuta Roveglia to transform itself over the years into an example of great charm of a modern company but still rooted in tradition. It is this long history, made of passion, dedication and a shared dream, that today gives rise to the wines of Tenuta Roveglia.

A great place to enjoy a good white wine / Lugana. We are given a very warm welcome every year and get the wines at fair prices.

We went on Saturday the 18th to tour the estate and taste four of their labels. We were welcomed by Leonardo, who explained the entire production process and told us the family's history. He then introduced us to all the wines and accompanied us on a tasting of four of their labels. We had a great time and were very impressed and pleasantly surprised by the history and investment that has gone into the Roveglia estate. The quality of the wines is also excellent. We ended the day by going to the Sirmione spa, which is very close to the estate. I would say it was a good choice and a truly enjoyable day. I highly recommend the tasting tour. Furthermore, the value for money is truly excellent, given the quality and quantity of the products, the service, and the setting in which the tastings take place.

We went in October during the last harvest season, so we were also able to see part of this process... the estate is a mix of innovation and tradition, really taken care of down to the smallest detail!! We participated in the tasting of 4 wines and were impressed by both the beautifully renovated place and the goodness of the wine. Lugana never disappoints!! We also discovered a couple of wines (late harvest and reserve) that are a real treat for the palate! The overall experience was really pleasant and we couldn't help but buy several bottles!
