Chateau Gassier has 40 Hectares of Vineyards
Château Gassier is situated in the heart of the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellation. It covers 40 hectares of vines cultivated using organic practices and bordered by the Sainte-Victoire mountain in the North, the Sainte Baume mountains in the South, and the Monts Auréliens in the East, together forming a unique backdrop for the vineyards. The charming region has colorful markets and shady terraces along with the sounds of the cicadas and is known for its culture and diverse flavors.
Continental Climate and Mediterranean Influence
The vineyards are within 30 Km. of the Mediterranean Sea and have a continental climate perfect for cultivating vines. Vermentino, Syrah, and Grenache are the main grape varieties grown here used to make white and their famous rose wines. Grapes are grown in the soil that suits them the best. Grenache and Syrah cover 50% of the entire vineyards. The winery got the Organic Agriculture Certification in 2016 for its organic and biodynamic approach to winemaking.
Organic Conversion of the Winery in 2016
The Jeanjean and Gassier families purchased the estate in 2004 and have worked hard to maintain the quality of wines. Olivier Souvelain also helped in the restructuring of the vineyards and the cellar. Chateau Gassier offers open access to the Sentier des Vignes educational wine trail to promote the biodiversity and unique wines of the Saint-Victoire region. Wine lovers are always welcome at the estate for a beautiful time.
