Château Les Chaumes is located just five kilometers from Blaye and the historic Vauban Citadel, perched on a hillside that offers stunning views of the Gironde River. The estate spans 23 hectares, featuring a terroir rich in clay-limestone soils. The vineyard primarily cultivates Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec grapes, producing an impressive average of 125,000 bottles each year.
The winery specializes in red and rosé wines, which are fermented and stored in stainless steel tanks to maintain their vibrant, fruity characteristics. The finest red wines undergo maturation for 12 to 18 months, developing complex notes of spice and vanilla. Each bottle reflects the unique terroir, offering a delightful tasting experience that showcases the essence of Bordeaux.
Oenologist Anne Parmentier warmly welcomes guests to the winery, providing an engaging introduction to wine tasting. Visitors can enhance their wine knowledge and learn about the winemaking process, including the role of barrels in shaping aromas and flavors. On the first Sunday of each month, guests can enjoy a guided tour, tasting, and picnic in the vineyard. Wine lovers can visit and sample the wines of Château Les Chaumes daily without the need for prior reservations.

Write a reviewThis small estate in Fours, 5 km north of Blaye, offers a very informative visit by the passionate owner, which can be rounded off by a rural picnic with wines from the estate, homemade pâtés, cheeses and a dessert. A very nice visit where we can learn a lot about the vines, the winemaking processes, the importance of barrels, the effects of the weather and the chemical processes of winemaking. In addition to the cultural aspect, it is a good time to exchange ideas with these winemakers whose efforts and trials often make their lives difficult to imagine so that we can drink quality wines. We came in April during the open house. We were perfectly welcomed by the owner, who took the time to share her passion with us and explain the history of this estate. It was a real pleasure to share this moment. The value for money of this wine is incredible, it is worth the detour!

The people are very nice and spoke good English. The son of the owner gave us a tour where we learned a lot about the wines. The wines are great and are very affordable! I recommend it very much.
