The Winery that Produces 100% Organic Wines
The word “Pachem” stands for Paul, Charles, and Emma – the children of the winery’s founder, Michael Grupper. Clos Pachem is a family winery, located in the Village of Gratallops, right in the heart of the Priorat DOQ wine region, Spain. The winery cultivates its vineyards with a biodynamic and organic approach. Surrounded by rows of vines and olive plantation, the estate enjoys a panoramic view of the lush countryside.
Architecture and Tradition of Clos Pachem
Inside the cellar, the sustainable architecture is the crucial part of the winery, built by the prestigious architectural studio from Barcelona, the Harquitectes. The building consists of decks if various heights attached with the flooring slabs. The rain water is collected in the decks which overflows from one deck to another until it reaches the vegetation. The winery also has a terrace where guests can buy and taste wines. On the ground floor situated a barrel room and wine storage vaults, enjoying maximum thermal stability. Clos Pachem is a tribute to the wineries that endure through several generations.
Variety of Flora and Fauna Shaping the Vineyards
The cultivation land stretches over five hectares, planted with grapes, olive groves, and almond trees. Michael has his full focus on two top-class grape varieties, Grenache and Carignan, using which he produces high-end red and white wines. Respecting the land, the estate follows ecological and organic methods – the harvest is done manually.
