Originally known as the Manor of Ditchling Garden, the estate was later renamed Court Garden after a brief period of Crown ownership.
Vineyard and Wine Production
Established in 2005, Court Garden's vineyards span approximately 17 acres and are among the most renowned in England. The region's maritime climate, akin to that of northeast France, is ideal for producing exceptional sparkling wines. The winery primarily uses classic grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier for their sparkling wines, while Rondo, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Ortega contribute to their still wine offerings. Additionally, rare Champagne varieties like Petit Meslier and Arbanne thrive in this unique environment. Court Garden also produces Ditchling still wines, including red, white, and rosé options. After the grape harvest, the winery employs traditional bottle fermentation methods to create their celebrated sparkling wines. To maintain the vineyard's health, sheep are utilized to graze and manage grass growth, promoting a sustainable farming approach.
