Emeran Reya Winery, a Third-generation Winery in the Middle of the Beautiful Kozana
The Emeran Reya winery is in the middle of the beautiful Kozana. Now in the third-generation of the family, the company believes in making wines that fully express their natural characteristics and the qualities of their terroir. The Reya family has always been close to the Brda land. In 1930, Edward Reya produced around 8000 litres of wine. His son Emeran took over the winery along with his wife and introduced modern machinery along with building a new wine cellar. Edward Reya took over the business after his father’s death in 2006 and passionately worked to continue the rich history and tradition of his family alongside his mother. In 2019, the winery got certified organic, and all the work takes place by organic and sustainable methods.
Grapes of the Winery
Their vineyards are spread over 10 hectares of land in a beautiful hilly landscape. Apart from the vines, one can see peaches, figs, apricots, pears, plums, etc. here. The marl soil retains plenty of moisture and nutrients, and adequate sunshine and closeness to the sea provide perfect conditions for vine cultivation. The main grape types that grow in their vineyards are Rebula, Yakot, Malvazija, Sivi Pinot, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Barbera, Refosco, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The best grapes help in the making of their top-class red, white, rose, and sparkling wines. The vinification and harvesting process takes place with a sustainable process that protects the environment and the health of the vines. It also allows the wines to retain their natural fruity taste and aroma.
