Gavalas Winery is a family run winery that is one of the oldest in Santorini. The winery is located in the traditional village of Megalochori. The family at Gavalas Winery focus on paying tribute to the local terroir of Santorini. As they produce only the highest quality wines, these are made in small quantities.

Rich Terroirs

The wine makers of the estate vinify the most vibrant wines in ​Greece, Assyrtiko, Aidani, Mandilaria and Mavrotragano. In order to showcase the richness of the terroir, Gavalas Winery is the only winery in Santorini that vinifies the indigenous rare grape varieties of Katsano and Voudomato. The climate at Gavalas is characterised by mild winters and long hot summers. These is low rainfall which means that the yield is traditionally low. The high moisture levels help the soil to absorb water and give it back to the vines during the day. The Gavalas Winery produces a range of wines including the Santorini, THe Santorini Natural Ferment, the Nykteri, the Aidani, the Katsano, the Posta, the Voudomato, the Mavrotragano and the Vinsanto. These wines are all of the highest possible quality and satisfy the palates of a range of wine drinkers. The wines of the Gavalas Winery have recieved a range of awards both in Greece and abroad and are consistently gaining acclaim for their tasting notes and exceptional quality.
