The Heinrichshof Vineyards

Heinrichshof Winery is nestled on a west-facing steep slope in the picturesque Mosel region of Germany. This unique location creates a diverse climate, balancing cool and warm temperatures throughout the day. The steep terrain enhances solar exposure and promotes quicker drying after rainfall, which is crucial during the ripening phase, reducing the risk of diseases and rot in the grapes. The vineyard features small terraces, and all cultivation is done by hand, ensuring meticulous care. With vines planted in 1939, these over 80-year-old plants yield wines of remarkable quality, complexity, and longevity, thanks to the high mineral content of the quartz-rich bedrock.

Winemaking Practices at Heinrichshof

At Heinrichshof, winemaking is approached with precision and care. Each wine range undergoes distinct vinification and maturation processes, yet all share a commitment to manual cultivation. Since taking over in 2019, young winemaker Heiner Oberrauch has embraced sustainable agriculture, focusing on naturally produced wines that reflect the unique characteristics of each vintage and grape variety. The vineyards are cultivated biodynamically, and all processing and bottling occur in the cellar, which is ingeniously integrated three levels below the vineyard. This hands-on approach ensures that every bottle captures the essence of the Mosel terroir.

A very interesting wine tasting with the senior boss with lots of information and great wines. Two wines were always tasted side by side and the differences were very clear. Stylish rooms with attention to detail. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had a wonderful wine tasting in their outdoor garden. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. What makes this tasting unique was the view, the friendly staff and the structure of the tasting. The tasting is customized to your wine taste profile preferences. That was unique and very well done. Would go back again.

We came here to buy a few cases of wine. We received a very warm welcome and good advice. Almost all of the wines on offer were available to sample free of charge as part of the sales consultation, and the salesperson had a lot to say about the wines. A special feature is that all the wines are vegan. A small downside is that even for larger orders and immediate payment, no discounts are offered, and there aren't a few free bottles to sample. I've seen this from other wineries.

We had a wonderful wine tasting with Alex - I think we might have tested about all of Heinrichshof’s wines - who was super friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. The villa is newly renovated with a very tasteful interior design and there are seatings both indoors and outdoors in the garden. We were particularly fond of the sweeter Rieslings, especially their Minus 110° Auslese. We also got a tour through the cellar. An extra thanks to Alex who helped us with a dinner reservation!
